while trying to answer
http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?p=80856#80856 I made an odd
discovery.

I've selected 'current' as there is no pull-down value for 1.9.104

1. Insert - File - (pick ascii text file)
I get another dialogue listing the file name, and with two tick boxes.
The one for 'link' is greyed out.

Yet, go and read the help file. 'inserting;text in presentations' It clearly
talks about using the link facility. It can't be that I've missed an
insert-link menu item, because there isn't one. ANd I must be on the right
track, because I get the dialogue with the greyed out tickbox.

2. Insert - File - (pick .gif or similar file)
I get an error box 'The file could not be loaded'

3. Insert - Picture - From file (pick same graphics file)
I get the picture straight away, with no option to link to it.

4. Insert - Object - From file (pick same grapics file)
I get a scrambled version of the picture straight away
with no option to link to it.

So, what exactly are 'links' for? I can't use them for text files, and don't
even get the option for graphics. There is an edit menu item for them, but I
can't seem to create any to let me edit them!

Why does the help for 'inserting;files' not mention links, but 'inserting;text
in presentations' does? What is the diffennce? Both appear to be the same menu
item, after all?
