------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Jun 6 13:06:53 -0700
2005 -------
I have contents1, 2, and 3 defined in my document's template (which is not the
default template). When I create a TOC in the master document, everything's
ok, but the next time I do a manual style update from the template (from the
Styles and Formatting window, with ALL checkboxes checked), the table of
contents looks ok until I update it.. Then, it goes away, save one grey line
to show that there is, in fact, a TOC there. When I go to edit the TOC, I find
that in "outline," the first three outline levels no longer in the "Paragraph
Style" list, so I have to manually re-set it to "Heading 1," "Heading 2,"
and "Heading 3." This is annoying, but I could live with it.. however, Content
1, 2, and 3 don't seem to be updating properly from the template I'm using,
either.. Very strange, but easy to replicate bug.

This also happens with any caption tables that are made, as well.. I'm just
not sure what's going on here.

With the files I gave you, do this:

1) open the master document TestMasterDocument (and make sure it's using the
template that I've included)
2) go to the page I have with the caption "TABLE OF CONTENTS"
3) below that, do a Insert->Indexes and Tables and then hit "ok"
4) There's a grey line there, but no information
5) Right-click in grey line and "edit" the TOC
6) Click on the "outline" elipsis "..."
7) Change the paragraph style to "Heading 1"
8) ok all of that, and there should be a two item TOC there.
9) now, go into the Styles and Formatting box and do a "load styles" with all
of the checkboxes checked
10) Update the TOC .. it will go back to step 4, rise, and repeat..
