There is a very good feature that allows to track versions of Office documents. When a document is saved in MS Office, the old version is deleted and a new file is created. In this case a tool like Undelete allows you to track and keep all the different versions of the file. It seems that OOo is updating the existing file, so this is unpossible to get back old versions while not working with .odt files.
