In the wizard to create the labels you can pick the printer to use before the empty label template is displayed. If you pick a generic postscript ppd file, when you click focus into the labels it starts typing slightly to the right of the physical edge of the label. However if you select an HP 2300 ppd file, cursor focus is right against the edge of the label. This indicates to me that OOo is attempting to honor the specs of the ppd file, but it's not being successful on HP printers on Linux.
