IMHO this is a bug also in MS Excel!

If you format a cell to be "text" and you enter a number
the number is understood as text, not a number.
In this case, although I could use that cell for calculations,
a warning message (tip) was there informing that number is
stored as text.
If you format a cell as "%" and enter for example "2",
it is understood as being 2% (0.02) not 2 units.
The exception is for dates! Why if not a bug?

It seems logical that if you format a cell in any format,
you should expect to type values in that format, not any
other arbitrary (unknown?) format. Having a sheet with a
column formated as YY-MM-DD why should I have to enter dates
there in any other format. Any reason for DD-MM-YY for ex.?

BTW, I used Excel 2003 for these experiments.
