------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Jun 21 03:49:13 -0700 2005 ------- Hi, with Windows 2000 SP4, 2,4 GHZ Processor, 512 MB Ram, OO1.9.104 OO takes 5 minutes and 30 seconds to open a 24MB Excel Sheet. The close of this document requires 60 seconds. On other, less performing systems, including a Mac OSX 10.4 G4 500 MHZ Dualprocessor machine, with NeoOffice (OO 1.1.3) the process of opening the document takes much longer. This behavior is reproducible. MS Excel needs 5 seconds to load this document! A closer look to the opening process of both, MS Office 2000 and OO1.9.104, with the filemon tool from www.sysinternals.com shows that OO1.9.104 is loading the document as a whole in steps of 4KB in RAM. MS Excel is loading only the first 4095 bytes in RAM and therefore achieves the aforementioned 5 seconds opening time of the document. The document itself contains only 1 table with 65536 lines and serves as a reference for dates (sort of infinite calendar). The opening time of documents in OO needs to be changed to approximately equivalent values of MS Excel.
