You describe several bugs which are all fixed in the meantime.
To create a bulleted text which appear line by line please do the following in
the latest version (OOo 1.9.109):
- start an Impress
- assign a title text layout
- write some paragraphs of text
- select all texts (only the texts not the textbox)
- change to the custom animation task pane
- assign the appear effect
- choose Start 'on click'
