Don't be so dismissive: There may not be a "defect", but it's a feature problem.
In the academic world, the footnote anchor generally comes after the period --
and it belongs to the first sentence.
If I want to edit academic text (e.g., a journal article) and move sentences
around, I run into trouble becuase Writer considers the footnote part of the
second sentence.
Please reconsider.
