It seems not to be possible to have a left scalable brace without a
corresponding right brace or other scalable character. It is possible to combine
a "left lbrace" with a scalable }, ), ], >... or even {, (, [, < or whatever is
scalable after the "right" but for case differentiation you only use a left
scalable brace. I would like to have a scalable nothing. (In Latex that's noted
as a "." like in "\right ."
Here is a LaTeX example:
\begin{equation}
A_{mk}:=\left\{ \begin{array}{ccc}
I(I+1)-(m+1)m & \textrm{for} & (m+1=k)\\
-2[I(I+1)-m(m-1)] & \textrm{for} & (m=k)\\
I(I+1)-(m-1)(m-2) & \textrm{for} & (m-1=k)\\
0 & \textrm{otherwise} &
\end{array}\right. ,
\end{equation}
And here's the closest thing of this formula I managed to write in OOo:
A_{mk}:= left lbrace stack{
I(I+1)-(m+1)m nitalic {for} (m+1=k)#
-2[I(I+1)-m(m-1)] nitalic {for} (m=k)#
I(I+1)-(m-1)(m-2) nitalic {for} (m-1=k)
} right rbrace
It's also a problem that tables in formulas are not existing (unless I just
haven't found it), cf. Latex example.
