I had this as well with a self-complied version of OOo (with gnome)- but only
with languagepack (in my case UI set to german), the english (base-installation)
UI worked fine.
But this error has not reoccured since then. In my case only calc was affected.
I guess something non-reproducible has gone wrong during compiling.
(I did not change other parts in the meantime, just compiled and installed a new
milestone of OOo)
Please remove all of your old user directory (~/.openoffice.org2) and try
again.
