The scenario I was trying to describe is:
1. create myadmin with BASEDIR set to /where/I/want/my/office
2. run pkgadd -a myadmin <all package except desktop integration one(s)>
3. run pkgadd <desktop integration package(s)>
this adjusts the link to: /etc/openoffice.org-1.9 -> /where/I/want/my/office
by running pkginfo -r <core package>.
But actually you are right, a simple '..' prefix should be sufficient.
