I have no arguments agains an ubuntu-specific desktop-integration package, but I
do not understand the description. From what I understand the deskop-integration
for debian already does the right thing, the proposed "workaround" is false.

What does "But soffice is protected as root" mean?
And how do you tell that "it is not even a set as executable."?

$ ls -lg /opt/openoffice.org1.9.125/program/soffice{,.bin}
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root   7429 Aug 22 13:24
/opt/openoffice.org1.9.125/program/soffice*
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root 326880 Aug 22 13:24
/opt/openoffice.org1.9.125/program/soffice.bin*

And linking to soffice.bin is wrong. Launching it that way would not set the
environmentvariables defined in the soffice-skript.
