English(US) is the default language and must be installed so that other
languages can work. In the screenshot the setting is to English(Australia) but
the dictionary for that is not installed (the ABC in front of the name is
missing). The settings in Writing Aids say nothing about the language in the
documents. The only tell you which writing aids are possible and they always
mention all languages. You must use the settings in Tools|Options|Languages to
set the language for the documents or inside a document in Styles and
Formatting|Paragraph Style|Font.
So please install the proper dictionary, give your document the correct language
settings and then try spell checking again.
