I have not been able to ascertain under exactly what circumstances this problem
occurs:

The contents of the OOo Writer window are sometimes not visible on the screen
when I return to it after using another program. The frame is visible, but the
control buttons (to close window etc) do not work. Inside the screen I see only
the contents of the program from which I switched to OOo.

- This problem occurred in 1.1.4 as well as in Beta 2
- By saving the file, or typing any character, the screen contents are usually
(but not always) properly re-written. When this is not possible, there is no
(visible) effect of typing, and attempts to save are met with a pop-up dialog
box, which has no content and no visible buttons (it disappears if I press
return)
- No part of the window content is visible (ie no document, no navigator, no
toolbars)
- The problem happens most often when coming out of my email program (Lotus
Notes) and my screensaver (BOINC), which are both reasonably intensive on disk
use, but I don't know if that's relevant since it has also happened coming from
Firefox.
- This is not related to specific documents, and can occur even with a new blank
document.
- I haven't noticed this problem with any other OOo component
