Concerning recent posts re: daphne germination and seed storage. Several weeks ago I posted a query on the NARGS Forum concerning seed storage and received very few responses. I feel most folks just take what comes as per the comments re daphnes. Assuming that most seed we receive from the various sources has been dry stored for at least 4 months we seldom can sow "fresh seed" . and do we really want to? (see Deno). The issue of pertinent data collection is a hard one to handle particularly for those who sow 150 packets of seed!
I store unsown seed in our freezer dry with no dessicator. Probably the frig itself would be sufficient and perhaps preferable? Note: Townsendia parryi (yr old seed) and leptotes (RMRP current) are germinating after 2 weeks at 45-55F ... Bill Moyles, Oakland/Berkeley hills: mild coastal
