That's an important reason! I was just looking at the Alplains list, and in
particular keeping my eyes open for small shrubby things; I noticed a small
shrub in the honeysuckle family that sounded interesting, and then realised,
" Oh, that's what I know as Lonicera involucrata, and it grows wild all over
my acreage..." although Alplains' might be a smaller form..
I definitely have no hope of remembering the synonyms for everything, just
try to remember that they exist, and use google a lot!

The only advantage to knowing a plant's name (and all its synonyms) that I
can see is to prevent me from buying the same plant over and over again.
