Cliff, Your picture of Paris yunannensis intrigues me. In Trillium the usual
xylem bundles are triarch. I believe that the occasional 2-leaved forms have
diarch xylem - like Tom Patrick attributes to the xylem of cotyledon-year
seedlings. The Paris you picture has floral and leaf units in groups of 4 or
8. Has anyone looked at the vascular system of these plants and determined the
structure of their xylem? I would predict tetrarch, based on Trillium.
