you don't want SCHED_FIFO handling in every program. you want a
utility like:
zsh> rtfifo your-command-here
which would acquire CAP_RESOURCE, then set its scheduling policy to
SCHED_FIFO, then call mlockall(2), and then exec your-command-here.
mustajuuri, a project mentioned on the linux sound+midi pages from
dave phillips, already has such a tool. i don't remember its name. its
been mentioned on LAD too.
