Soon after the beta7 release, the alsa-oss package seems to have stopped
building libaoss.so (it now builds only libaoss.a and libaoss.la).
I've browsed the CVS but I can't pinpoint the change that did this, and using
the --enable-shared flag in the cvscompile doesn't force the build of the
shared library. [I build by running the ./cvscompile script].

Am I doing something really silly, or is this an intended change? In the
latter case what is the procedure for using the package now? [I've searched
under preload and libtool to try to track it down without avail].

I do have a version from approximately b7 that still works, though I'd like
to verify with the current one before trying to figure out why bplay, xmms
and their derivatives segfault when using the preload.

All advice/hints appreciated.
