Hi! Thanks for adding support for the via 8233 sound part. It works, but is very noisy (noise level equal to sound level). I suspect it's the motherboard (soltek 75drv) that is causing the noise, but if there is something to do, I'd be happy for a hint.
As the sound is so noisy, I'll buy a real soundcard. Is there a good place for a review on how some cards really sound? I know the ALSA matrix, but I'm also interested in getting a hi-fi quality (analog) output, not just any sound. I used the oss-emulation for playing some games (loki demos if that matters) and the system load is 100% and the sound is hacking. Is that because of the oss emulation? Can I fix it? (The system load is mostly system time, and the cpu is a AMD 1333MHz.)
