Hi
I'm new to this list, and new to Linux. I have worked with Unix device drivers, but not Linux. I have an emagic AMT 8 midi patch bay. (Similar to Unitor 8). I've never gotten this to work in _indoze (can I speak that word on this list?) despite much shenanigans, so I'm wondering 1) Is anyone working on a driver for this? 2) If not, is there a FAQ on how to approach a manufacturer for documentation on their hardware for purposes of developing a driver for them for free? (I should have to beg?) 3) This is a USB to MIDI device. Is there any support in ALSA for USB, or do we roll our own support? Please forgive the newbiew-type questions, I will go off and read the doc if I decide to work on this driver, but I just would like a little jump-start. If anyone is already working on this driver, I would be happy to contribute to that effort. MY time is limited, I'm a grad student, but I can contribute. If I do it on my own, I expect it to be some time before I have even pre-alpha code. Having a working Linux driver for this equipment would be the incentive I need to switch to a full-time Linux desktop. Thanks for listening -karl _______________________________________________ Alsa-devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-devel
