As far as i've tested with a modified version of Benno's latency test
suit, ALSA itself shows a very low latency, even much better than OSS
(tried with SB Live and CM8738).  But through OSS emulation the
latency, i.e. responce time, looks doubled.

I now cannot look at details yet because now i'm having a serious lock
up with 2.4.10 + ALSA when period size is small like 256 bytes..
