I have the exact same problem, with a different laptop, but the same 
chipset. My physical address is the same though my IRQ is 10 for both video 
and audio. But I find it curious your video and audio do not share the same 
IQ since they are the same chip. 

I studied the source for the NM256 ALSA driver. As best as I can tell is 
the problem lies in the config for the AC97 codec driver. I havent dived 
into that yet, so I am not sure. 

I could probably submit an update, if I had specs, a better understanding 
of the hardware, and/or someone to help.;P

If you ever hear anything off of the list, please let me know, as I am 
interested in using the ALSA sound driver too!
