Hello, I can reproducibly hang (i.e. no virtual console changes, no ALT-SysReq) my laptop.
Setup: - Compaq laptop running SuSE 7.3 (the first installed version was 7.1 and had the problem too) - Alsadriver provided with the SuSE distro on the laptop (I tried once with an early 0.9 alpha and the problem was the same). - alsaconf (from suse) detected and installed the es1938 driver - lspci returned: 00:11.0 Multimedia audio controller: ESS Technology ES1969 Solo-1 Audiodrive (rev 02) - Sound is working fine unless I do suspend to disk and then resume Sequence to hang laptop: 1) normal startup (I don't start X or anything, just console mode) 1a) sound working fine 2) suspend to disk 3) start audio application (e.g. mpg123) 3a) (optional) CTRL-C mpg123 (this takes ~20 secs instead of <1 to return) 4) rcalsasound stop 5) rcalsaround start <--- hang If I don't do 3) and 3a) sound is working fine again after 4) and 5). Please fix this :-) If you have any patches for 0.5 I am happy to test them. In case you'd like additional infos please let me know which. Btw. - has any of the developers tried to use the build script from the 0.9 on a machine with nothing but 0.5 and a fresh cvs checkout of 0.9 recently? - it wouldn't even ./build prep. After fixing alsa.m4, it wouldn't complete a ./build config (and a ./build rpm was hmm, somewhat redhad centric). Maybe a 1stInstall or something like that would make a nice addition to the toplevel cvs directory. Thanks Joerg -- Joerg Mayer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I found out that "pro" means "instead of" (as in proconsul). Now I know what proactive means. _______________________________________________ Alsa-devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-devel
