I have an EWS64-XL soundcard with an CS4232 chip and Sam9307 chip on it. I tried the alsa snd-cs4232 drivers (Version 0.9.12) 2 months before but they didn't work because i get unresolved symbol error messages when modprobing or insmoding the driver module. I wrote two months ago to this maillinglist about that topic, but the problem couldn't be solved. Today i downloaded the new alsa 0.9.0RC1 drivers and tried them. But i get still the same error messages: $ modprobe snd-card-0 /lib/modules/2.4.18/kernel/sound/acore/snd-rawmidi.o: unresolved symbol _snd_magic_kcalloc_R2061fcb1 /lib/modules/2.4.18/kernel/sound/acore/snd-rawmidi.o: unresolved symbol snd_magic_kfree_R734de7d7 /lib/modules/2.4.18/kernel/sound/acore/snd-rawmidi.o: unresolved symbol snd_hidden_kfree_R3d62778c /lib/modules/2.4.18/kernel/sound/acore/snd-rawmidi.o: unresolved symbol snd_hidden_kmalloc_R91c87dfa /lib/modules/2.4.18/kernel/sound/acore/snd-rawmidi.o: unresolved symbol _snd_magic_kmalloc_R456bd3bf /lib/modules/2.4.18/kernel/sound/acore/snd-rawmidi.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.18/kernel/sound/acore/snd-rawmidi.o failed /lib/modules/2.4.18/kernel/sound/acore/snd-rawmidi.o: insmod snd-card-0 failed I configured the drivers with the following options: ./configure --with-debug=full --with-isapnp=no --with-sequencer=no --with-oss=yes --with-cards=dummy,cs4232,cs4236 I also tried the cs4236 driver, because someone said that the EWS64XL could also have a cs4236 chip, but with those drivers i get the same errors. I added my modules.conf file and isapnp dump output to this e-mail. So, can anyone tell me why loading the drivers allways failed. Distribution is Slackware 8, kernel 2.4.18. (The old alsa 0.5.x driver worked with my soundcard and Kernel 2.4.9) Thanks, Oliver C.
