this might be because you got xrun, and there was a problem in
usb-audio driver in this regard.  please try the cvs version.  the
hang-up should have been fixed.

also, Patrick reported that the capture works firstly after playing
(setting up) the playback device before capture on his quattro.
your device may have a similar problem.

hmm, uhci driver cannot get the whole descriptor properly in
comparison with usb-uhci driver.
please compares the outputs of lsusb from both modules.
