now i'm puzzled. the registeres and channels used should be identical with the old drivers... the attached is the old via82xx.c which can be compiled with the latest cvs tree. please replace alsa-kernel/pci/via82xx.c with it and rebuild the module. use your old VIA8233.conf and check whether the old one really works. if it doesn't work, this might be related with "IEC958 Output Switch", which was not set in the older driver.
