I should like to add a note of optimism in an otherwise depressing situation: I can personally verify that the job position (for Linux Audio on Sun/Ray) was at least formally entered as a requisition to a real recruiting company. The recuiting company, Yoh, Inc., is located just three blocks away from my company in Silicon Valley, and I actually visited them in person, and interviewed with Javier's colleague, Dave Dixon. The company has a beautiful office, staffed with lots of busy people, and they have some pretty good credentials, having staffed a number of local companies.
In fact, it was through their lead that I first became interested in working on Linux Audio (not that I am anything more than a student of ALSA, at this point), in hopes of eventually gaining enough experience to qualify for positions such as the one under discussion.
I post this in the hope that the high-quality people working on Linux and Linux Audio will remember that real companies actually do have real interest in hiring open source development experts.
thanks,
john h
