what do you mean 'non-dev'?
please give the info what you're doing.  if you use OSS output plugin
of xmms, then it should work as it is.  if it's ALSA-native plugin,
then you need to set up to use plughw:0 instead of hw:0.  how to set
up is depending on the application.  don't ask me :)
