The section describing option 1 is still a bit confusing because it seems to contradict itself firstly by saying alsa-driver is needed (at the first paragraph) and secondly by saying it might not be needed (at the end of the section). It also doesn't say you should not install alsa-kernel which presumably you shouldn't do. Quick summary 1. Install alsa-driver from ALSA CVS 2. Disable ALSA in kernel (#CONFIG_SND is not set) 3.
