I've got an aureal vortext II card (au8830), and while the alsa driver (versions 1.01, 1.02c and 1.03) produce sound, it seems to get random distortions. There are times when a rapid succession of short sounds (eg AIM sounds) when the sounds will speed up, slow down, become aliased, or become staticy. I've also noticed recently that while listening to longer sounds (eg music) that the music will sometimes switch sides intermitantly. I didn't notice this before probably because I just started using head phones more often than the speakers. I'm using Debian Woody 3.0r2, kernel 2.4.25 with alsadriver 1.03 downloaded and compiled with gcc 2.95.4. I'm not sure what other info would be useful for troubleshooting, but let me know and I'll see what I can do to provide it. --Greg
