You asked for code and urls to help you develop a new gui for alsaplayer so I sent you a link that has a lot of useful information about alsaplayer.
I wonder if you meant to ask for info on developing a frontend for aplay/arecord?
If not check the alsaplayer cvs to get some ideas and tips.

Apparently upon the beginning of the barrage, the donkey broke discipline and panicked, toppling the cart.
