Hello,
The model of my card is the
"OPTiSound 64 Deluxe" 1817D Sound Card.
It has a jumper for enable/disable PnP,
and another for enable/disable IDE.
If anyone else has used such a card,
what should the jumpers be set to,
to use the ALSA driver (0.5.12a)?
I'm still trying, but no luck yet.
I have documented what I've done and

Please check it, if you can give me a nudge
in the right direction.
The mixer still says "driver not detected"
even though cat /proc/asound/sndstat shows
everything OK and cat /dev/audio does
display something now.
Sorry for rambling in the last message,
I'm trying to ask better questions now :)
