Hi,
I made a mistake and bought a sound card without looking first if it's
supported by alsa ("c-media chip? that wont be a problem..."). The
obvious question is wether it can be supported.
The one I bought is a Terratec Aureon 7.1 PCIe, similar to this one:

Because it's a HDA-compatible system I already tried to use it's device
numbers inside snd_hda_intel.c but that doesn't work:
* ALSA sound/pci/hda/hda_intel.c:1778 0000:02:00.0: Codec #0 probe error;
disabling it...
* ALSA sound/pci/hda/hda_intel.c:1817 0000:02:00.0: no codecs initialized
lspci:
02:00.0 0403: 13f6:5011
02:00.0 Audio device: C-Media Electronics Inc CM8888 [Oxygen Express]
Subsystem: C-Media Electronics Inc HDA Controller
Any idea how to get it working?
kind regards,
frank
