I have been using several of the last cvs builds. They all
work ok for me with my Midiman Delta44 using ice1712.

I do not know, but here is the relevant portion of mine, as you asked,
although it is so small, that I can't imagine that it would provide
any benefit to you:
alias char-major-116 snd
options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=2
alias snd-card-1 snd-card-ice1712
