Hi,
Since I can't get my C-Media 8338 card to work with the default driver in the
kernel, (at least not under 2.4.9, worked in 2.2.19) I wanted to try Alsa.
I got the package alsa-source (I'm running debian woody) and followed the
install instructions.. ./configure worked fine but when I tried to "make
install it failed with a long list of .ver files not found in the
/linux/modules/ directory. Here's the exact error message (there was lots
of these for different files):

In file included from ../sound/driver.h:70,
                 from sound.c:23:
/usr/src/linux/include/linux/modversions.h:222: linux/modules/usema.ver: No
such file or directory

Do I have to install something else to make it compile? I'm very lost :(

Thx,
Leo Spalteholz
