Shure. I follow the Linux movement for the last three years (and working on
a Linux distribution: www.rocklinux.org).

Ardour: Although I have a cutting edge development system I had never the
libs/versions to compile Ardour :-(. Ardour looks great - but seems to focus
a multitracker-emulation-envirionment - which I do not like to have.

Protux and (for example) Glame are nice experiments, too. Let's continue to
work on this professional audio-tools for Free OSs!

GSMP is also a design study of enhanced programming techniqus:

I do not like statically coded programs. So GSMP has a very modulized plugin
concept. Everything is a plugin (even zoom-in/out ...). We also try to use
modern C++ concepts and to define abstract interfaces. So we can easy extend
our program. Another nice thing is our activator-namespace to call plugins.
So we can build main-meues, context menues (...) from this namespace (wich
will also change dynamically on plugin-load ...).

Next we will create a generic overlay based WaveViews (like the new
gtk-canvas based Ardour views?) to implement markers, envelopes, ... in a
clean way and rewrite the dynamic-menu-system. Some more info can be found
on the gsmp homepage.

BTW. I think gsmp started before Ardour and Protux. But we had to improve our
programming and design-techniques a few time (especially after we read "C++
TPL - Bjarne Stroustrup").

Could you explain what "not that it matters anyway" should tell me?
