Sorry, if I can't help you with 0.5 drivers, but I didn't own a Audiophile,
when I ran this branch of ALSA. But I don't see, why 0.9 should be a
problem with KDE2. I don't run KDE, but there should be an option while
compiling KDE, that enables OSS-audio only, so there should be no need to
use libasound with KDE at all. And OSS emulation on the Midiman card with
the 0.9 drivers is working well.
