Hi,

I have a Conectiva Linux 7.0, kernel 2.4.5.
My soundboard has a CS4280 chip.
I had only one CDROM unity that used to work properly. Alsa support for
my sound board is already available at Conectiva Linux and all
configurations are made by SNDCONFIG program.
Now, I've bought a CD recordable unit and the sound of the former CDROM
unit disappeared. It's not a hardware instalation problem since both
devices play music in WINDOWS 98. It also seems not to be a Linux
configuration problem since both units allow proper data reading access.
Why the CDROM unit has no sound? Does
Alsa has limitations on the number of entries in a sound board?

I thank any help,
