As I haven't been able to find any more immediate means of help (other than the mailing lists), I've decided to register #ALSA on the Open Projects Network.
I am under the impression that there are no "official" IRC channels, but perhaps this one could be it. I've asked around many a times about ALSA in various channels, and looked for an IRC channel in particular. If anyone here wants to "take over it", I'll change the "ownership" of the channel to you.
