Hi,
I've got an SB Live platinum card and I'm trying to play DVD streams using
vlc, i notice that if i have my volume set to the levels io normally have -
audio is soft and i have to turn up my stereo, but clipping then seems to
occur on loud audio causing very loud crackles. I can get rid of the crackles
by turning the PCM and Master volumes down, but then of course the sound
output is very soft, and if i turn my stereo up further to compensate it
doesn't sound as good because there's the noise on the line gets amplified
too.
Is there something I can do to avoid this (short of getting a stereo with
digital input)?
Also, when fidling with the volume I noticed that as well as Master and PCM,
there's also Wave and about 32 Emu 10k1 PCM channels two of which seem to
alter the levels of the DVD playback - what are all these different channels
and how are they used?
BTW I'm using alsa0.9.0beta9a
Thanks for any help

Wait: Did you know that there's a direct correlation between the decline of
Spirograph and the rise in gang activity? Think about it.
