looks like my initial email of 10/13/2001 is at least partially incorrect. i think there's an issue with /usr/include/sound that might be helpful to discuss anyway. i never paid much attention to this directory until a downgrade from beta7 to beta5 caused all sorts of compile and install errors. as mentioned below, when this directory is removed the compilation and install of beta5 goes smoothly. here's the error from the previous post: [[apparently, in versions up to and including beta6, "/usr/include/sound" is symlinked to "/path to alsa driver source/sound". but in beta7+, header files are actually installed in "/usr/include/sound", which is no longer a symlink, but an actual directory.]] apparently not, but rather that /usr/include/sound is made into a symlink or an actual directory based on whether it exists at compile time or not and if it exists, whether it's a symlink or not. can anyone clarify what's going on here?? tia, patrick _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
