Hi, I thought I have got an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 working OK with Alsa 0.9.0beta8 on Mandrake 8.1. It can play audio from Xmms (although KDE doesn't recognise it), Real Player and almost from Flash (with lots of stuttering and badly needing some buffer size adjustment I can't find anywhere).
I tried plugging an external DAC into the SPDIF output but got zip. I tried all the controls to do with SPDIF on the Envy24 mixer but still got nothing. Rebooted into Windows 2000 as a sanity check (if sanity is the right word wrt booting Win2K) and it worked fine. The DAC just wasn't receiving any signal it could lock to via the Alsa driver. Has anyone encountered this problem? Got it working?
