hello, i had 0.9.0beta6 going successfully with ice1712 and mpu401 drivers on a RH 6.2 (kernel 2.2.15) intel system. last week it seemed necessary to 'upgrade' to RH 7.2 (kernel 2.4.7), so i rebuilt 0.9.0beta6 drivers and libs and successfully installed them. now, when called by aplay or any other program that attempts to open the dacs, the following error shows up in /var/log/messages:
Dec 19 22:08:49 t0ast kernel: ALSA pcm_lib.c:1831: playback write error (DMA or IRQ trouble?) Dec 19 22:09:09 t0ast last message repeated 2 times Dec 19 22:09:19 t0ast kernel: ALSA pcm_native.c:1016: playback drain error (DMA or IRQ trouble?) Dec 19 22:09:29 t0ast kernel: ALSA pcm_native.c:1016: playback drain error (DMA or IRQ trouble?) Dec 19 22:09:29 t0ast kernel: ALSA pcm_lib.c:162: BUG? (pos <= runtime->buffer_size) (called from c88ec230) obviously, no sound is made, and the program gennerally hangs until killed. for what it's worth, i tried 0.9.0beta10 and had the same experience. here's the terminal spew from aplay and beta10: ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:282:(snd_pcm_hw_drain) SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_DRAIN failed: Input/output error aplay: pcm.c:655: snd_pcm_hw_free: Assertion `snd_pcm_state(pcm) == SND_PCM_STATE_SETUP || snd_pcm_state(pcm) == SND_PCM_STATE_PREPARED' failed. Aborted... Killed any clues as to what i can do to fix this sorry situation? midi still works with mpu401, by the way. thank you, bill -- _________ Bill Sack [EMAIL PROTECTED] ---------------------- _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
