I just did it.
I got the new 0.9b alsa stuff.
1. I have kernel 2.4.17, FROM www.kernel.org
Built myself 'cause I do Netfilter dev stuff.
2. After building the kernel with support for my via686 chipset,
built alsa-driver, ./configure, make, make install...
Also fiddled with the RPM under ./util, installed that too.
3. Things really did not work well until I got my /etc/modules.conf
straightened out.
Almost no problems... recording is not quite right yet.
