Been there, done that :) I tried linking to dsp1, to audio0, and 1 or 2
others, none of which worked.

There must be some device that I can link to, because the Gnome OSS
mixer (GMIX) is able to manipulate the volume on the line, line1 and
line2 inputs separately.

I was hoping that maybe one of the developers might read this list and
be able to point me in the right direction.

Also, you have a separate Line connection ?  My sound only
has Output to Speakers, Output to Headphones, and MIC.
