Mine is working mostly fine except for recording.
When you did the installation, ./configure, make, make install part,
are you sure "/usr/src/linux" IS or is a symlink to /usr/src/linux-2.4.17 ?
Perhaps you missed hitting against the right source...
And perhaps your kernel is not actually and properly configured for sound
modules...
Mine is working, same kernel version.
