I'm sorry but I've a problem with your drivers , especially with
alsa-utils-0.5.10.tar.
I've a Notebook Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 (PIII 750Mhz) with Slackware 8.0
and kernel 2.4.5
and "lspci" see the soundcard like an Intel (also if Toshiba says that is a
yamaha).

I've installed all your packages:
-alsa-driver-0.5.12a.tar
-alsa-lib-0.5.10b.tar
-alsa-utils-0.5.10.tar

They were installed like you tell in the HowTo etc.. starting by alsa-driver
(./configure -
make install - ./sounddevice ), then with lib and utils with the same
process.
All go fine but..
Since early I'd a problem with module's loading, but when I found the script
"alsasound" all
load well (when command start he say:
-Starting sound driver: snd-card-intel8x0 done
-alsactl: Error in configuration file '/etc/asound.conf' (line 1): parse
error
but all load well.
p.s. asound.conf was been created by me and is empty...):

-###lsmod output:################################
-Module Size Used by
-snd-card-intel8x0 9232 0 (unused)
-snd-pcm 31392 0 [snd-card-intel8x0]
-snd-timer 9328 0 [snd-pcm]
-snd-ac97-codec 23072 0 [snd-card-intel8x0]
-snd-mixer 26784 0 [snd-ac97-codec]
-snd 34160 1 [snd-card-intel8x0 snd-pcm snd-timer
snd-ac97-codec snd-mixer]
-soundcore 3824 0 [snd]
-apm 9008 1
-eepro100 16176 1
-ppp_deflate 39008 0 (unused)
-ppp_async 6864 0 (unused)
-ppp_generic 19280 0 [ppp_deflate ppp_async]
-slip 8416 0 (unused)
-lp 6096 0 (unused)
-parport_pc 19312 1
-parport 23776 1 [lp parport_pc]
-##################################################

And now the problem....: when I try to unmute my card to see if sound is
ok...i've this output:
-The ALSA sound driver was not detected in this system.

So..I can't know if soundcard goes..
Another problem is...that compilations don't create the /etc/asound.conf
with soundcards specific:
-alsactl: No soundcards found...

Whot would be the problems?
I hope you'll give me an answer soon.
