Thanks very much, follwing your advice I removed everything rebuilt with oss, rebuilt the libraries and utils and inserted all the relveant modules. It now seems to work okay thanks. Unfortunately I now have another problem. I get random noise when sounds start, eg whenever xmms changes tracks. This is present on both the spdif and line outputs. I think this is the Xnoises problem refered to in one of the FAQs, however I don't really understand the brief answer there and the link the the XFree sie is broken. I've searched all my X config files for pci_* but found nothing, where should I be looking? Thanks very much for your help, hopefullly you can solve this problem as easily as the last one :-) Mark. -- You only get *B*est *S*oftware *E*ver from Mad Cow Software E-mail <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> WWW http://madsoft.cjb.net ICQ UIN - 26495898 ------- >>Liar: One who tells an unpleasant truth. _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
