Okay, yeah.

It's not just me.

Just in the last couple days there have been two more people with the
wierdo IRQ 11 Ethernet and Via686 sharing, plus one other IRQ interruption.

Whichever alsa developer, please look at this now, oh ye silent demi-god of
sound....

Rob,

I had to use Kernel 2.4.17 - stock one.

I had to disable USB. ( some unknown reason, no error or anything,
simply just wouldn't "go" )

I had to fiddle with the BIOS a lot to try and
free up a spot.

After that my stuff started appearing right in /proc/asound/sndstat.

Someone once recommended MOVING the Ethernet adapter simply
to a different slot. ( I have not tried that )

My conflict was/is with RealTec 8139too.so <- something like that

And trying to switch my bios to "pretend" to be a SoundBlaster on irq 5 was
an udder-moooo.

I have now 2.4.18-pre6 with some 8139too fixes, but I have not yet tried
to alsa-fy it, so I just don't know if such a conflict has been eliminated or
not.

My via686 IS WORKING (almost fine) with Sharing IRQ 11 and the Ethernet.
( my recording ability is not good )

I had to get rid of USB support, or "yet a third thing" on IRQ 11. ( perhaps
5 counts as well in some wierd way )

FYI
